There are many ways to be in service to others. Often times we think of volunteering our time, sometimes we think of making a donation, but service is more about how you show up for the people who need you.

Do you have a set of skills, money or expertise, or a big heart that can provide a service for someone else? On a daily basis, in the variety of situations, you are poised to be of service to others.
At the beginning of your journey, when you are a novice, you are a consumer. You are hungry for information. You have passion and energy and drive. You want to take in everything you can to get to the next level.
Once you’ve been at it for a while, whatever your it is, as you progress you will have to find ways to achieve balance. To balance consuming, you have to begin to contribute.

The way in which you contribute and serve will be personal and you will have to find what is congruent to your values. If you have the time or enjoy the transformational connections, you may be called to volunteer your time in a face to face capacity. If you have a skill, such as carpentry, perhaps you could volunteer your services. Likewise, if you have the capacity and feel called to write a check, those funds could be put to great service for others.
Service doesn’t just apply in charitable situations. In every situation you find yourself in, you should ask yourself who are you showing up for? Who will be impacted by your performance? Who needs to be considered in the choices you make?

Service is about realizing you are not alone and others benefit from your best self. Showing up in the world with an intention to benefit others is a wonderful way to be in service to others.
